Each week we would like to share a few facts about members of our team. This week we showcase Sharni Stocker-Jones.

I have been working at the Hammond since January 2021 in the senior boys boarding house. However, unfortunately I only have a short contract due to leaving in July to work at Harrow International School in China, as a housemistress and Teacher of PE. Maybe one day in the future I can come back and join you all again!

In some of my previous roles I have worked as a Head of PE and Games at Lyndhurst School in the U.K. and Director of Sport at The English School in Kuwait. Before this I worked as a PE Teacher and Form Teacher at St Neots Preparatory School.

I have a BSc (Hons) degree, I am a qualified teacher (iPGCE, 1st class), hold a NPQML and am also currently undertaking a masters in education.

I am also Level 3 designated Safeguarding office trained.

I really enjoy hearing the pupils singing and playing the piano in the boarding house! It’s a lovely feeling when we can create a home from home experience!

Interesting facts:

I have played tennis to an international standard and travelled the world playing in competition.

I have held a junior world ranking in tennis.

I have been an extra on the TV series Waterloo Road.

I have volunteered in Thailand at the Soi Dog Sanctuary, which I loved! It was such an amazing experience.

I really enjoy musical theatre.
