Dear Parents and Students,
After 35 years at the Hammond School I have decided to retire to concentrate on my health.
I first started at the school as a student when I was 16 years old.
Having completed the 3-year course a senior student I took up my first job as a Dance Teacher in Brazil where I worked for 2 years. I had a wonderful experience there and I still keep in touch with my “Brazilian Family” to this day.
On my return to this country I was offered a job at the Hammond School teaching baby ballet and Primary RAD. This in turn led to further classes in ISTD Modern and Tap with the Hammond School Associate (HSA) department.
I was then asked to teach in the Lower and Senior Schools in all dance disciplines. This was now a full-time job.
Over the years the role evolved and I trained the Senior Students to become Dance Teachers and Pilates Instructors.
My main passion has always been with the students of the Lower School. It has been my great pleasure to nurture their technique, creativity and love of dance.
Being given the opportunity to choreograph pieces for the numerous productions has also been an enormous privilege.
The support I have been given from the Director of Dance, Mr David Needham, has been truly invaluable. He has guided and inspired me throughout my long career.
The Hammond School have made the decision to create a scholarship in my name. This will be given to a student who shows great passion and dedication, and who can tell their story through the medium of dance with not only sensitivity but also raw emotion.
The Hammond School has been my life. I have adored every minute of my career and would happily do the same again.
