Dear Parents and Friends of The Hammond

We made it!

What a term it has been and once again a demonstration of the resilience, teamwork, and dedication of all members of our Hammond community. It is with absolute sincerity and gratitude that we thank every one of our parents and friends for the solid support throughout, what has been, a very challenging term. Our young people make The Hammond what it is, and we are so proud of the way they have adapted to the new ways of working.

We always take a moment to reflect at the end of every term, and also sadly have to say goodbye to members of staff embarking on new chapters of their lives. On Friday we will say goodbye to Mrs Hansen, Mrs Chase, and Mrs Griffiths. We wish Mrs Hansen the very best in her new role as she relocates to Norfolk; Mrs Hansen has been in integral member of our Humanities Department and has led many international excursions to the continent. We wish Mrs Chase lots of luck as she moves into her new role and we thank her for being such a crucially important member of the English Department, as well as an incredible form tutor. We wish Mrs Griffiths best wishes as she leaves The Hammond to focus more on her Bitesize Theatre Company and thank her for the creativity she has brought to our drama departments over the years. We hope to see Mrs Hansen, Mrs Chase, and Mrs Griffiths at some point not too far into the future.

We also welcome a new addition to The Hammond, Mr Adam Stubbs, who embraces the role of Director of Boarding. Mr Stubbs joins us from Millfield School and is thrilled to start to work with our boarders to ensure the boarding experience is positive, developmental, and vibrant. More detailed introductions of Mr Stubbs to follow in the New Year.

Please take time to look through our newsletter which attempts to capture what makes The Hammond so special; although we are unable to perform at Chester Cathedral this year, I am sure you will agree that the performances within the newsletter demonstrate the versality and ingenuity of our wonderful pupils, students, and staff.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful and safe New Year.

With my very best wishes

Jennifer
