A Message from the Principal, October 2020

Dear Hammond Community

It is with great pleasure I write to you from a fully open and vibrant Hammond and must say how absolutely thrilled

we have been to welcome back all of our pupils, students and staff. We were so inspired by the way everyone worked together throughout lock down, especially supporting each other throug

h some challenging times. It was also such a delight to see the ingenuity and creativity on display from teachers and pupils/students as we continued to deliver world-class training and education. 

We have great pleasure in welcoming our new Hammond family members, including all of our new Lower School and Senior School pupils/students, our new staff members, as well as our new first year degree students. We hope this is the beginning of an exciting, fulfilling and life-changing experience that you will cherish forever. Remember, we are all here to support and guide you as you begin your Hammond journey. 

The start of term has been unlike any other start of term, and I thank everyone for their support with the systems in place to keep everyone safe. It is a testament to the thoughtfulness of our young people that we have been able to continue our training and learning with minimal disruption. Please do talk to us if you feel we could do more to support each other in the current climate. 

Finally, I must give my eternal thanks to the team of pupils/students and staff who have helped raise more than £3000 for two wonderful charities (CLIC Sargent and Nightingale House Hospice) by supporting me in running the London Marathon (re-routed to Chester) on 4th October. This expe

rience will live long in the memory and is a perfect example of the community spirit, kindness and altruism that makes The Hammond such a special place. 

I wish everyone a safe, relaxing and enjoyable half-term break, and look forward to seeing everyone again soon.
