International Outreach

Over the course of this term, Hammond vocational teachers have taught International Outreach classes to students in both Italy and Japan.

The Hammond and Scoula di Danza Classica e Moderna di Erica Bront were proud to once again collaborate within the dance world. Two years ago Head of Senior Dance, Anthea Garratt visited this wonderful school in Italy to lead workshops and auditions for entry to the Hammond Lower & Senior vocational courses, and has been leading dance workshops during lockdown on Zoom.

Mr. Dutton has been teaching ballet via Zoom to students of the Ballet Garden in Tokyo! Miho Tsurutani the Principal of the Ballet Garden was a fantastic dancer with English National Ballet and is now in charge of the only school in Japan to teach the ISTS syllabus and the Cecchetti Method.

In December, Mr. Dutton spent time teaching at her students in Japan and now has moved some classes online.

It was amazing to see so many happy dancers and teachers from both schools. In a time when we all have to be apart, it’s wonderful to be able to come together this way to celebrate our shared passion for dance.
