Nicky Cross has hosted a number of Q & As with Hammond students over the last few weeks.

Nicky has has an extensive performance career on stage, not least as a puppeteer in Sally Cookson's 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' and in the National Theatre's 'War Horse', responsible for brining Joey to life on stage.

Below are trailers for War Horse & The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe so you can see Nicky in action:

The Hammond's Lower School Drama and Music students had an excellent session with Nicky who has had a  fascinating career to date, and the students asked great questions giving her the chance to explain her time in Warhorse as one of the puppeteer teams operating Joey. An unusual role for a woman!

She told us the weight of the horse and rider combined was 22 stones and that rested on the puppeteer shoulders.  She also talked about her growing interest in stage combat - and her role as Fight Captain on the new production of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe directed by Sally Cookson at the Bridge Theatre.

Nicky also shared lots of information and stories including her time in Immersive Theatre productions and Peppa Pig!

We hope, when things get back to the new normal that Nicky might come and take some workshops.

Meanwhile good luck to her in her Lockdown Land and thank you for everything!

Thank you to Toni Cummings and Mandy Hatfield for organising.
