It has been a busy half term in the virtual RS Department. Year 7 completed their Christianity theme and many produced excellent modern versions of the 'Good Samaritan'.

They have begun their topic on 'Judaism in the UK today' by looking at some of the key beliefs. They have been bubbling with enthusiasm and have supported each other with using the technology so everyone can access the lessons. I am incredibly proud of them for working as a real team.

Year 8's have continued their learning journey into Sikhism following on from Mr. Singh's inspiring visit in March. There has been some superb learning which has definitely been enhanced by many students with their clever use of IT.

Year 9 have been considering some big philosophical and ethical questions such as 'Are people born evil?' ,'How can there be a God if evil and suffering exist' and 'Animal Rights' . They have also produced some entries for the national RS competition'Spirited Arts'. (I will send Lauren's picture'

Brilliant participation from Year 9 through excellent debates.

Year 10 GCSE group have continued with their course work. They had a guest speaker on one of their ZOOM lessons. The Rev. Jackie Bellfield from Ellesmere Port Methodist church attended one of their lessons to explain a key part of the course -'How does the church contribute to the local community?' I was ,as I am always very proud of my Year 10 group they were so mature and asked Rev Jackie some deep questions.

Year 11 took part in a Masterclass designed to get them to think about ethical issues. The class was called,'Slogans and Campaigns ' and students were required to discuss issues that were important to them and how they would present their message to others through designing clothing with ethical messages or a campaign persuading others to participate in their cause. Some inspiring work was produced .

I am proud of every one of my students in RS for the way they have pulled together this term and helped each other and their teacher cope with these changing times. Thank you for making it such an enjoyable half term.
